Women's Basketball: Strong shooting performance lifts Muskies past Bison

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Bethany College women's basketball suffered a 67-55 road loss to Muskingum University Saturday afternoon.

GAME FLOW

  • The Muskies dominated the Bison throughout majority of the game.
  • Through the first couple of minutes in the first quarter, both teams battled back and forth, exchanging baskets. The Bison took a 10-4 lead after Lindsey Garrison hit a three-pointer with 6:33 to go. The Muskies went on an 11-4 run to close out the quarter, taking a 17-14 lead.
  • The Bison battled to climb back in the second stanza. A three-point shot by Makenzee Mason cut the lead, 25-24, then on the next possession, Garrison hit a layup to give Bethany the lead. After going back and forth, the Muskies took a 35-31 lead heading into the halftime break.
  • Muskingum continued to maintain the lead through the second half and taking the game from Bethany.

IN THE BOX SCORE

  • Lindsey Garrison led the Bison with 17 points, shooting 6-for-13 from the field.
  • Makenzee Mason added 14 points with three rebounds and two steals. She shot 5-for-10 with three made three-pointers.
  • Ashleigh Wheeler added 11 points with four rebounds and two assists.
  • Freshman Josie Stone pulled down a team-high five rebounds.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Bison shot 32.3 percent from the field while the Muskies shot a hot 53.1 percent from the field and 45.0 percent from downtown.
  • Muskingum outrebounded Bethany, 39-29.
  • The Bison scored 14 points off of 17 Muskie turnovers.
