Bison Volleyball Receives Votes in AVCA Top-25 Division III Coaches' Poll

Sept. 8 – LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time since the 2011 season, the Bethany College volleyball team received votes in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association Top-25, announced the AVCA on Tuesday afternoon. The Bison garnered the recognition after a 3-1 record at the Purple Raider Classic last week.

Bethany totaled 20 points in the latest top-25 poll, receiving votes after posting three straight-set sweeps on Friday and Saturday, September 4 and 5. During the weekend, the Bison grabbed a 3-0 win over Denison on Friday, before sweeping Trine University and The University of Mount Union, who currently ranks 18th in the same poll.

The top victory during the week was against the host Purple Raiders, who, at the time, were ranked #14 in the country. The Bison earned the straight-set win, defeating Mount Union by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-20.

The leading vote getter in the top-25 poll was Emory University, who claimed the top spot with 62 of a possible 63 first-place votes. The Bison finished ahead of 16 other programs that also received votes in the top-25 poll.

Bethany will be back in action on Wednesday, September 9, as they travel to Beaver Falls, Pa. to open conference action against Geneva College. The matchup is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start.
