Athletics Posts Highest GPA Since COVID

The Bethany College athletic department continues to perform well in the classroom. As a department, the student-athletes posted a combined 3.31 grade point average (GPA) for the Spring Semester.

"We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for achieving such a high standard in the classroom this spring," said Interim Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller. "With 20 of our varsity teams posting a GPA above a 3.0, it's a testament to their dedication, time management, and commitment to excellence both academically and athletically. This achievement reflects the culture of accountability and support fostered by our coaches, faculty, and support staff."

It's the 11th straight GPA over 3.0 for the department, and the third consecutive semesters with improved averages. The 3.31 combined GPA is the second-highest in the 11 years, only bested by the 3.41 in the COVID semester (spring 2020). Twenty of Bethany's 22 teams posted GPA's over a 3.0 with six teams registering at least a 3.5 GPA. Twelve teams improved their grade point averages from the fall semester.

Women's Track & Field with a combined GPA of 3.7 recorded the department's highest GPA, followed by softball (3.61) and women's volleyball (3.61).

Softball finished with a department-high seven student-athletes with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while women's basketball was right behind them with five. Thirty-seven student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester with 14 maintaining cumulative 4.0 GPAs.
