Bruni, Garrison Named King & Queen

Bruni, Garrison Named King & Queen

Two Bethany College student-athletes have been recognized by their classmates during the Homecoming Court ceremony during halftime of Saturday's football game.

Senior women's basketball player Lindsey Garrison and senior men's soccer player Santiago Bruni were named Homecoming Queen and King. Bruni, unfortunately, wasn't in attendance for his crowning moment as the men's soccer team is scheduled to play Geneva.

Garrison burst onto the scene as a freshman earning PAC Rookie of the Year, D3Hoops.com All-Region, and D3Hoops.com Regional Co-Rookie of the Year. She holds the school's single-game record with 10 three-pointers and the single-season record with 78 three-pointers.

She enters her senior season averaging 15.8 points per game and needs 115 points to reach the 1,000-point mark.

"Lindsey is beyond deserving of this as she exemplifies a strong sense of school pride and demonstrates this through her leadership, service, and character. This is reflected on the court, in the classroom, and throughout the campus community."

Bruni, a team captain, started all 10 games he appeared in this season. He scored his lone goal of the year, a late equalizer against Saint Vincent. A key cog in the Bison defense, Bruni has started 57 of the 62 games he has played.

"This is great news for Santi! As a coach, I cannot say enough about how he conducts himself on the pitch, in the classroom, and on campus. We are incredibly proud that his peers recognized him as the king that he is!"
