Baseball Cruises in Win Over Penn St.-Berks

Myrtle Beach, S.C. - The Bethany College baseball team took on Penn State-Berks Wednesday afternoon for a non-conference contest. The Bison cruised to a 16-10 victory. Ethan Young led the Bison with five runs batted in, including an inside the park grand slam.

Bethany rolled past Penn State-Berks, 16-10   

 

Both teams hit the ball well in the 16-10 contest. Bethany had 10 hits while Penn St.-Berks had 12. In the high-scoring game, the Bison were the first to plate a run. Alec Berg drove in Seth Gordon for the first Bison run. In the third inning, the Green and White added four runs after three walks and an Ethan Young inside the park homerun. The Bison scoring continued into the fifth inning, when Kevin Pollock tripled to clear the bases, scoring Ryan Anselmino, Noah Rady, and Kyle Goodwin. After four, Bethany led 8-0.

The Lions added two runs of their own in the fifth inning, but the Green and White added another run after Kyle Goodwin drove in Michael Whiteherse. The Lions continued to battle adding two more runs in the sixth. The Bison exploded for five more runs in the bottom of the sixth to lead 14-5. The Bison were able to hold off the Lions, despite the Lions scoring another five runs.
