Men's Lacrosse: Bison Cruise Past Barons in Season Opener

Steubenville, Ohio. – The Bethany College men's lacrosse team adventured to Steubenville, Ohio to open up the season against the Franciscan Barons. The Bison cruised to a 19-6 victory over the Baron. Sophomore Aarin Burton led the Bison with 6 goals, and two assists. Khoury Kloss had a team high four assists.

GAME OVERVIEW

The Bison hit the back of the net quick in the first period of play. Aarin Burton scored his first of three goals in the opening period. Nick Melita and Josh Allegra joined in on the scoring in the first, scoring a goal apiece. The Bison led 5-1 after one quarter of play.

The second quarter saw momentum shift slightly to the Barons. They responded with three goals in a row to cut the Bison lead to 5-4. Burton's stick was unstoppable as he scored two more goals and helped spark a 4-0 run by the Green and White. Andre Currie and Khoury Kloss also added goals in the second quarter. Bethany led 9-4 at the half.

Momentum stayed with the Bison after the break. Bethany added two quick goals from Nick Melita and Clay Yingling. Freshman Tyler Britton joined the scoring party adding two goals in the third. Bethany led 15-4 heading into the final quarter of play.

A Franciscan goal ended the Bison's run to open the fourth quarter. Clay Yingling scored the final goal of the night with under two minutes to go.
