GREENVILLE, Pa. (March 19) - After helping the Bethany College softball team win seven games in Florida, senior pitcher Cassie Weiss (Taylorstown, Pa./McGuffey) and sophomore catcher Kayla Dinsmore (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) were named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Pitcher and Hitter of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Weiss finished the week with 56 strikeouts over 39 innings pitched (10.05 per 7 innings) and went 4-2 in the circle. She also established the Bethany all-time strikeouts record in the team's 6-1 win over Roger Williams on Tuesday. The McGuffey alum rung up six batters in the first two innings to break former Bison Rachael Schafer's (2000-03) record of 463 strikeouts.

A three-time All-PAC honoree, Weiss had three games with double-digit strikeout totals, including 11 in wins over Ohio Wesleyan and the Coast Guard. She finished with 10 strikeouts and yielded only one run (unearned) on three hits in the team's 1-0 loss to FDU-Florham.

Dinsmore surpassed her RBI total from a season ago last week to be named PAC Hitter of the Week. She hit .394 (13-for-33) with a pair of doubles, a triple and a home run to go along with 13 RBI, seven runs scored, three stolen bases and three sacrifice flies during Bethany's trip to the PFX Spring Games last week.

The Beavercreek, Ohio native recorded four multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 effort with two RBI in the team's 6-1 win over Roger Williams. Dinsmore sparked a come-from-behind win to close out the trip versus Benedictine. With the Bison trailing 4-0 in the third inning, Dinsmore hit a grand slam to tie the game, before Bethany went on to win 13-8.

The Bison will begin their northern slate on Thursday, March 22 when the team travels to take on Marietta in a non-conference doubleheader. The games, which were originally scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, will begin around 3:30 p.m.
