Women’s Soccer cannot surmount Chatham, fall 2-0

Oct. 5 - BETHANY, W. Va. - The Bethany women's soccer team fell to Chatham 2-0 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.

The Cougars developed a lot of offensive pressure through the first twenty minutes but the Bison defense held strong.

In the 21st minute, Brittany Fullbright (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) had a breakaway opportunity that looked promising but her shot rung off the left goal post to keep it scoreless.

In the 33rd minute, Megan Sieg of Chatham found her header was on the receiving end of a corner to connect for the first goal of the game. The 1-0 score would hold until half time.

Less than a minute into the second half, Sieg connected for her second goal of the game on a breakaway to make it 2-0 Chatham.

The Bison tallied just one shot on goal in the second half when Madison Cochran's (Grafton, W.Va./Grafton) shot was saved. The final score would hold at 2-0.

In the loss, goalkeeper Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) register seven saves on 17 shots. Fullbright and Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) tallied Bethany's two shots-on-goal.

Bethany now sits at 2-8 (0-2, PAC) on the season while Chatham improves to 7-1-2 (2-0, PAC). Bethany hosts Grove City on Saturday at 1 p.m. for Homecoming.
