Bison shutout by Presidents

Oct. 15 - WASHINGTON, Pa. - The Bethany women's soccer team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup 5-0 to Washington and Jefferson on Saturday.

The hosts got the scoring started in the 16th minute when a clearing pass from midfield found W&J's Jordan Toohey who connected for the 1-0 lead. Toohey would connect again just minutes later off a deflection from a save to give the Presidents the 2-0 lead, which would hold until the break.

W&J would tally three second half goals to run away with the match.

Bethany had their best scoring chance in the 81st minute on a nice cross by Madison Cochran (Grafton, W.Va./Grafton) but the chance was thwarted on the receiving end.

Starting goalkeeper Anna Riddle (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) tallied eight saves in 11 shots on goal while Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) registered four saves in 17 minutes in the second half.

Bethany drops to 2-10-1 (0-3-1, PAC) while W&J improves to 10-3-2 (4-1, PAC). The Bison return to Hoag Field on Wednesday to host Geneva at 4:00 p.m.
