Bison record scoreless tie with Saint Vincent

Oct. 12 - BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany women's soccer team played to a scoreless tie with Saint Vincent on Wednesday at Hoag Field.

Both sides retained an equal amount of offensive possessions as the first half played to a scoreless tie.

The closest opportunity for the Bison came in the 38th minute when Ashley Borsch (Richmond, Ohio/Edison) received a through ball in the center of the field but her shot went just high. The Bearcats best chance came in the 13th minute when a shot from Amber Brownfield was punched away by Bison goalkeeper Anna Riddle (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant).

The second half saw the same back and forth pressure on offense. In the 73rd minute, a yellow-card was called on Bethany that granted a free kick to Saint Vincent. Natalie Luppold took the kick for the Bearcats but Riddle was there for the save. The 0-0 score would hold and force overtime.

After a scoreless first OT period, the Bearcats almost netted the golden goal on a header off of a corner, but Riddle made a clutch save, knocking the ball away to keep the game unblemished.

For the Bison, Riddle tallied five saves in the tie while Kadin Gould (Huntington, W.Va. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) had two shots-on-goal.

Bethany now sits at 2-9-1 (0-3-1, PAC) while Saint Vincent moves to 2-5-5 (1-2-1, PAC). Next, the Bison take to the road to battle with Washington and Jefferson on Saturday. Kickoff is slated for 1:00p.m.
