Bethany dealt home loss to Geneva

Oct. 19 - BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany women's soccer team were defeated 3-0 by Geneva on Wednesday in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.

With the game scoreless in the 25th minute, Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) blew past the Geneva defense and rang a shot off the left post, keeping the game a 0-0 tie. 

In the 39th minute, Geneva's Justice Newland placed a shot just over Anna Riddle's (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) head to give the Golden Tornadoes a 1-0 advantage into halftime. 

The Bison had a free kick in the 54th minute that found Brittany Fullbright (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth), but her header attempt flew wide.

Geneva increased its lead in the 72nd minute when Newland netted her second goal of the game. Newland completed the hat trick in the 86th minute to give the GT's a 3-0 lead. 

Fullbright led the Bison with two shots on goal while Hinerman and Sarah London (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central) each tallied one apiece. Riddle turned away eight shots in the losing effort. 

The Bison fall to 2-11-1 (0-5-1, PAC) while Geneva improves to 4-9 (1-5, PAC). Bethany hosts Westminster on Saturday, Oct. 22 for Senior Day with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m.
