Mahaffey Breaks Weight Throw Record

Mahaffey Breaks Weight Throw Record

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Bethany College women's track and field team competed in their very first competition of the 2024-25 indoor season. The Bison saw a school record be broken early in the day with Alexis Mahaffey breaking the weight throw record in her first attempt. She later re-broke her own record to finish fourth place overall.

Mahaffey walked out into the circle and threw a 15.06m toss in her first attempt, which would have still broken the school record and still secured her fourth place. However, the senior bested herself and launched a 15.41 later in the day to improve on her own record.

Mahaffey is no stranger to the record books. She currently holds two outdoor throwing records- the discus (38.81m) and hammer throw (45.97m). Mahaffey set both last spring.

Other Top 25 Performers

  • Quimora Medley was 22nd in the weight throw with a 7.54m toss.

  • Amelia Ferguson placed 25th throwing 6.01m.

  • In the one mile, two Bison finished back to back. 23. Nevaeh Premo (6:57.67) and 24. Mary Tracey (7:16.14)
