
Mahaffey Wins Weight Throw; Re-Breaks Record
MUSKINGUM, OHIO – Bethany's Men's and Women's Track and Field Team traveled to Muskingum University to compete in the Muskie Meet.
Alexis Mahaffey not only took home the crown in the weight throw, but broke her own indoor weight throw record in the process. Mahaffey launched a 15.47m throw, besting the entire field. She overthrew second place competition by more than a foot.
The women's team also had their first placer in any track event this indoor season. Madison Donelson slid into sixth place with a 8.48 second 60m dash.
The men had a complete performance with a half dozen place winners.
Caliyph McClinton continued to perform at a high level. The speedster adjusted to a different venue by taking home multiple silver medals. McClinton ran a flat seven in the 60m and a 22.84 in the 200m.
Charlibot Marcelin also qualified for the finals in the 200m. The junior ran a 23.47, placing 6th.
The Bison had a top five finish in the field for the first time this season. Dave Rene placed fifth jumping 5.87m. Liam Gallagher was directly behind placing 6th with a 5.85m leap.
Trey Young was the final scorer for the men. Young was brave enough to run the 400m, where he came 8th with a 53.61 second finish.
The Bison will travel to Youngstown next Saturday to get another competition in the same venue as conference championships are held. It will be another all day event.
