Men's Volleyball: Bison battle Bulldogs

ADRIAN, MI- The Bison traveled all the way north to Michigan to take on the Adrian Bulldogs. This was one of the best efforts Bethany put together all season on the court. The men set their season high in points scored with multiple 20 point sets. However, the Bison were unable to come out on top in this matchup.

THE MATCHUPS

Adrian 3, Bethany 0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-20)

HOW IT HAPPENED

Bethany kept it neck and neck throughout the first set. James Lucht was able to land the first kill for the Bison. After dropping a few points early, the Bison were able to match the Bulldogs streaks before going on a three point run to tie the game at 15.

Some errors on Bethany's side saw the Bulldogs take a 19-16 lead. The Bison made a final run in the first set as a pair of kills from Rylann Trapp propelled the Bison within one point; 21-20. That was the last scoring effort that the men were able to put together as they dropped set one 25-20.

The Bison held a lead for the beginning portion of the second set. It was 6-5 before the Bulldogs went on a big run. In the blink of an eye it was 17-9 in Adrian's favor.

Bethany was able to put together some scores. Lucht had a pair of kills and an ace in the comeback effort. Adrian's second set lead was too much for the Bison to overcome.

Lucht moved from the primary scorer to an assist role in the third set. After falling to a 5-1 deficit, his teammates found rhythm. McKay Ginez slammed a kill. Then Tyler Johnson picked up a pair of kills. The Bison came within one point of the Bulldogs (7-6).

A few aces gave Adrian a more comfortable lead. Down 18-12, Bethany had some work to do.

The Bison were able to put together a few solid rallies. They fought all the way back to the 20 point mark, but they couldn't manage a reverse sweep. Bethany loses set three and the match against Adrian.

BISON LEADERS

Johnson had the most kills for the Bison with six. Lucht had five.

Ginez was the leading setter with 12 assists through the first two sets of play.

Leonardo Locatelli was the leading defender with seven digs. Lucht and Ginez found themselves finishing with five digs each.
