Softball: Six Bison Earn PAC Postseason Recognition

GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Bethany College softball team had six members recognized by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Tuesday afternoon when the PAC released its postseason awards for the recently completed season.

Sophomore Josie Wise (Canton, Ohio | Canton) earned All-PAC First Team (Pitcher) honors for the second consecutive season. She pitched 161.2 innings with an ERA of 1.91. Wise earned 15 wins in the circle while pitching 19 complete games and picked up one save. Her 183 strikeouts shattered the single-season strikeout record at Bethany and was a leagues'-best. She currently ranks fifth all-time on Bethany's strikeout career record.

Junior Destiny Goodnight (Youngstown, Ohio | Ursuline) and freshman Haley Eyler (Waynesboro, Pa. | Waynesburo) both earned All-PAC Second Team honors.

Goodnight finished the season leading the Bison with a .389 batting average, 44 hits, 28 runs scored, and 10 stolen bases. She finished fourth on the team with 17 runs batted in. Goodnight had an on base percentage of .420 and slugging percentage of .575.

Eyler finished second on the team with a .378 batting average. She finished the season with 31 hits, 19 runs batted in and 15 runs scored. Eyler had nine extra base hits and had seven stolen bases. She led the Bison with and on base percentage of .452 and was third on the team with a .500 slugging percentage.

Senior Jennifer Oberthur (Indianapolis, Ind. | Park Tudor), freshmanLexie Vetter (McDonald, Pa. | South Fayette) and junior Morgan Huey (Hermitage, Pa. | Hickory) earned All-PAC Honorable Mention honors.

Oberthur received her third postseason honor from the conference. Primarily the Bison catcher, she posted a .362 batting average with 38 hits, 26 runs scored and 25 runs batted in. She had nine doubles, two triples and two homeruns for the Bison. She posted a .397 on base percentage and .543 slugging percentage.

Vetter played the role of designated player this season for the Bison. She finished second on the team with 40 hits and fourth on the team batting .357. Vetter had 19 runs scored and 12 runs batted in. She had eight doubles and stole five bases.

Huey earned her second postseason honor from the conference. This season she played the role of an utility player primarily at shortstop and behind the plate. She posted a batting average of .340 with 36 hits, 17 runs batted in and 15 runs scored. She had four extra base hits and walked six times. On base, she swiped six stolen bases and had an on base percentage of .377 while slugging .396.

Sophomore Ally McClelland (Brunswick, Ohio | Brunswick) was named to the PAC Sportsmanship Team.
