Kelsea Daugherty/Hayley Holenka Named All-PAC Selections
Feb. 26 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Bethany College women's basketball standouts, junior Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) and sophomore Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) have been named All-Presidents' Athletic Conference Honorable Mention selections, announced the PAC on Friday evening.
Daugherty was named to the All-PAC list for the second time in just two seasons, following her freshman campaign in which she was named PAC Rookie of the Year. The sophomore center was selected as an Honorable Mention honoree this season, averaging 13.4 points and 7.8 rebounds per game.
Throughout the 2015-16 campaign, Daugherty posted a double-digit scoring output in 17 different games. She eclipsed the 20-point plateau on four separate occasions, including tying a career-high with 28 points in the season finale against Washington & Jefferson.
Also a solid performer in the rebounding game, Daugherty corralled at least 10 boards in seven games, producing seven double-doubles on the season. She twice collected 14 rebounds, including a 25-point, 14-board outing against Geneva on January 27.
In her first two seasons as a Bison, Daugherty has already totaled 765 points and 425 rebounds, averaging 14.7 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
Holenka earned her first All-PAC recognition as she too was named an honorable mention selection. The junior sharpshooter led the Green & White in scoring average during the 2015-16 season, scoring 14.1 points per game.
The junior guard posted a double-digit scoring output in 21 games on the year, marking the most by any Bison this season. She cracked 20+ on five separate occasions, including a season-best 22 points in the team's PAC Tournament first-round matchup with Saint Vincent College.
One of the top three-point shooters in the PAC, Holenka wrote her named in the Bethany College record books during the course of the season, breaking the Bison single-season mark in made three pointers. Her 64 total connections from long distance broke the previous mark of 62, set by Kiki Cohen in 2001-02.
Along with her shooting numbers, Holenka produced solid, all-around numbers, also averaging 4.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.8 steals per night.
Throughout the year, the duo of Daugherty and Holenka combined to score over 41 percent of the Bison's points, averaging 27.5 per night.
