Women's Hoops Falls to #1 Thomas More

Feb. 3 – CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Bethany College women's basketball team dropped a 104-43 decision to the top-ranked Saints of Thomas More College on Wednesday evening.

The Bison found themselves in a 9-2 hole early, before an 11-4 run helped the Green & White tie the game at 13-13. Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) got the run started with a three-point basket. Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) added four points to the cause, while Taylor Large (Hopwood, Pa./Laurel Highlands) and Ashley Duthie (Madison, Ohio/Madison) added two, each.

Over the final four minutes of the first quarter, as well as the second stanza, the Nation's number one team outscored the Bison 43-7, taking a 56-20 lead into the halftime break.

The Green & White would find themselves outscored by 22 in the third frame, but played well in the fourth quarter, notching 15 points in the frame. However, the Green & White would drop their third consecutive conference road contest.

Bethany was led in the game by an all-around performance from Duthie. The freshman totaled nine points in the game, while also adding seven rebounds and five assists. Large added eight points for the Green & White, while Daugherty and Holenka totaled six.

The Bison will be back in action on Saturday, February 6, as they return home for a matchup with the Cougars of Chatham University. The conference matchup is scheduled for a 2 p.m. start.
