Bison defeated by Saint Vincent, 8-1

BETHANY, W.Va. (Sept. 5) - The Bethany College women's tennis team began Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) play with an 8-1 loss to Saint Vincent at the Ewing Tennis Courts Wednesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bearcats began the match by taking all three doubles matchups to race out to a 3-0 lead in the match.
- The Bison earned their first win of the season at No. 1 singles. Junior Kristin Schafbuch (Marpingen, Germany / Arnold Janssen) defeated Lucy Bujdos 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets to put Bethany on the scoreboard.
- Saint Vincent claimed the other five singles positions to close out the victory.
MATCH NOTES
- Junior Fran Capaldi (Steubenville, Ohio / Catholic Central) dropped a three-set match at No. 6 singles.
- Capaldi won the first set 6-4, before falling 6-0 in the second set to even the match. Saint Vincent's Carson Snyder earned the win over Capaldi with a 10-4 tie-breaker win in the third set.

- The Bison will head to Washington & Jefferson on Thursday, September 7 for a PAC contest.
