Bison clipped at La Roche, 5-4

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Oct. 6) - The Bethany College women's tennis team was dealt a 5-4 loss by La Roche in a non-conference match Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Bethany picked one win in doubles play in the third position. Junior Fran Capaldi (Steubenville, Ohio/Catholic Central) and newcomer Erica Amoroso (Belle Vernon, Pa./Belle Vernon) won 8-1 to put the Bison on the board.
• The Green & White picked up a pair of straight-set wins in singles competition. Junior Kristin Schafbuch (Marpingen, Germany/Arnold Janssen) claimed No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3), while Capaldi won at No. 5 singles (6-2, 6-2).
• Amoroso notched the fourth point on the day for the Bison. Playing in her first match this season, Amoroso scored a 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (10-3 tiebreaker) win at No. 6 singles.

UP NEXT

• The Bison will head to Huntington, Pennsylvania on Sunday, October 8 for a non-conference contest at Mount Aloysius.
