PAC names Hayden Defensive Player of the Week

Nov. 14 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – After establishing the Bethany College career tackles record, senior linebacker Donavan Hayden (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern) was tabbed the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Defensive Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Hayden collected a game-high 16 tackles (nine solo) in the Bison's 32-31 come-from-behind win over Saint Vincent this past Saturday to become the school's all-time leader with 360 career tackles. He added 4.5 tackles for loss, including a sack, in his final game in a Bethany uniform.

Hayden led the PAC and ranked second in all of NCAA Division III with 142 tackles (14.2 tackles per game), including 82 solo tackles. The Maryland native also led the league and tied for eighth nationally with four forced fumbles this season.

He becomes the only three-time weekly PAC award winner this season after being named the defensive player of the week on both September 6 and October 10 earlier this season.

Bethany recently concluded its season at 3-7 overall, 2-6 in league play, and enter the offseason on the heels of a two-game winning streak.
