Football: Bison fall to Gators on Senior Day

BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College football team faced the Allegheny College Gators in a PAC matchup on Don Ault Field at Bison Stadium Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Bison honored their 14 seniors. The Gators edged the Bison, in overtime 20-17.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Bison struck first with a 22-yard field goal off the foot of John McArdle. The Bison led 3-0 after one quarter of play.
  • In the second, the Bison took a 10-0 lead after Tre'Jour Owens ran in for a 2-yard touchdown.
  • Allegheny scored twice in the second to take the lead, 14-10.
  • The Bison regained the lead after a 58-yard touchdown pass from Marquice Robinson to De'Vaughn McWhorter. The Green and White led 17-14 heading into halftime.
  • The Gators knotted the game at 17-17 in the third quarter and battled to take the win, 20-17.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • (313) – The Bison totaled 313 yards of offense.
  • (6) – The Green and White punted six times for 231 yards with an average of 38.5.
  • (3) – The Bison had three tackles for loss.

LEADERS

  • Marquice Robinson threw for 150 yards and one touchdown.
  • Tre'Jour Owens rushed for 149 yards and one touchdown. He averaged 4.8 yards per attempt.
  • De'Vaughn McWhorter had four receptions for 95 receiving yards and one touchdown.
  • Jermain Snoddgrass led the Bison with 17 tackles (7 solo) followed by Nathan Rouse with 16 tackles (8 solo).
  • Shawn Wheeler added 11 tackles (5 solo).

Bethany will travel to Latrobe, Pa. for their final contest of the season. They will face PAC opponent Saint Vincent College at 1 pm on Saturday, Nov. 12.
