Five from men's track & field team compete at ECAC Indoor Championships

NEW YORK (March 3) - The Bethany College men's track & field team sent five members of the team to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships, where they placed 11th out of over 30 teams at The Armory in New York City Friday and Saturday afternoons.

Sophomore Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) ended the event with a pair of top-three finishes in the jumps. Sallah-Mohammed shattered his personal-record in the triple jump and took second place with a mark of 14.41 meters (47 feet, 3.5 inches). His mark currently ranks 21st in all of NCAA Division III this season. Sallah-Mohammed also claimed third place in the long jump with a leap of 6.73 meters (22 feet, one inch).

On the track, junior Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) took second place in the 800-meter run. He finished with a time of one minute, 57.17 seconds and was second only to Saint Vincent's Laurence Jaross, giving the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) the two-fastest times in the 800 at the ECAC Championships.

Junior Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) competed in the 200-meter dash and established a time of 23 seconds flat to place 13th overall.

The Bison had two more competitors in the field in PAC long jump champion Michael Speedy (Irondale, Ohio/Edison) and senior Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum). Speedy finished sixth overall in the long jump to notch the Bison points with his mark of 6.42 meters (21 feet, 0.75 inches). Hunkins placed 10th in the shot put with a distance of 12.57 meters (41 feet, three inches).
