Sallah-Mohammed smashes triple jump record at Bethany Invite

BETHANY, W.Va. (March 31) - Sophomore Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) established a new school-record in the triple jump, as the Bison men's track & field team competed at their Bethany Invitational Saturday.

Sallah-Mohammed set the school, meet and stadium record with his mark of 14.68 meters (48 feet, two inches). The distance ranks as the top-mark in all of NCAA Division III this outdoor season. Sallah-Mohammed also finished fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.83 meters in the event.

Senior Jordan Hunkins (Zanesville, Ohio/West Muskingum) won the shotput to lead the Bison throwers. He established a mark of 14.02 meters (46 feet even) on his final throw to move into the top spot overall.

Senior Ed Maxwell (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) established a new personal-record in the 100-meter hurdles, turning in a time of 15.78 seconds to place third. He was also third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 58.89 seconds.

Junior Byron Mayers (Brownsville, Pa./Brownsville) qualified for the finals of the 100-meter dash and finished seventh, crossing the tape at 11.51 seconds.

Freshman Andrew Weiss (Washington, Pa./Linsly (W.Va.) finished second in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16 minutes, 32.17 seconds.

Senior Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) had a great day on the track, as he established a new PR in the 1,500-meter run and finished third with a time of four minutes, 12.79 seconds.

Bethany will return to the track next Saturday, April 7 when they travel to Alliance, Ohio to participate in the Mount Union Invitational.
