Weiss adds ECAC Rookie of the Week laurels

DANBURY, Conn. (March 22) - Bethany College freshman Sammie Weiss (Avella, Pa./McGuffey) was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Division Rookie of the Week announced the organization Wednesday.

Weiss, who was also named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookie of the Week, batted .480 (12-for-25) and had a base-hit in seven of the team's eight games last week. She compiled a .535 on-base percentage and added two RBI and three runs scored to her final total. Weiss went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a pair of runs scored in the team's 9-8 win over Salve Regina.

Weiss and the rest of the Bison will make their season-debut on the Bison Field surface when they host Marietta on Thursday, March 23 for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 p.m.
