BETHANY, W.Va. (Jan. 13) - The Bison were unable to climb out of an early deficit in their 83-46 loss to Grove City Saturday evening in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game inside the Hummel Field House.
The Bethany College women's basketball team falls to 6-7 overall, 3-5 against league foes. Meanwhile, the Wolverines improve to 5-3 in the PAC, 10-5 overall this season.
Senior forward Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) led the Bison with 12 points and seven rebounds in the game. Freshman Makayla Reynolds (Buckhannon, W.Va./Buckhannon-Upshur) tallied eight points, while classmate Fallon Nicholson (Morgantown, W.Va./Morgantown) added seven in the loss.
Bethany was held scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the contest, before a layup-and-one by freshman Alison Kuhn (Lewisville, Ohio/Monroe Central) ended the drought. The Bison offense came alive for 17 more points in the final nine minutes of the first half to trail 41-20 entering halftime.
The Wolverines maintained a sizeable advantage throughout the second half and managed to hold off any comeback attempts by the Bison.
Grove City guard Lexie Arkwright finished with a game-high 27 points in the win, including 5-for-7 on three-point attempts.
Bethany will look to get back on track this Wednesday, January 17 when they head to Pittsburgh to take on Chatham at 6 p.m.
