Sparks Named PAC Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. (BethanyBison.com) – Junior outside hitter Katie Sparks (Macedonia, Ohio/Trinity) of the Bethany College volleyball team was tabbed the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday, Sept. 24. Sparks was unstoppable on the attacking end as the Bison went 3-0 last week, including a pair of sweeps against Penn St. Fayette (Sept. 17) and PAC-rival Grove City (Sept. 22).

Over the three games, the Macedonia, Ohio native hit at a blistering .296 (46-18-108), while averaging 4.18 kills, 2.55 digs, and 1.09 blocks per set, to go along with her five service aces. In the thrilling five-set victory over Geneva, Saturday, Sept. 22, the junior hit at a .286 clip, stuffing her stat sheet with 16 digs, four aces, and 23 kills, tying her own league high this season for kills in a single match.

Sparks continues to shine in the conference as she leads the PAC with 196 kills on the campaign, and is ranked fourth in service aces (23) and seventh in hitting percentage (.240).

Sparks and the squad will return to the court this Thursday, Sept. 27, when they return to PAC action against St. Vincent College. First set it slated for 7 p.m.
