Cross Country hosts annual Bethany Invitational

BETHANY, W.Va. (Sept. 9) – The Bethany College cross country teams hosted its annual Bethany Invitational Saturday morning near Buffalo Creek. The men placed 12th overall, while the women finished 15th at the event.

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES

  • The Bison men were led senior Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch), who placed 23rd overall with a time of 28 minutes, 22.54 seconds.
  • Freshman Andrew Weiss (Washington, Pa./Linsly (W.Va.) posted a time of 30 minutes, 9.6 seconds to cross the tape 54th overall.
  • Junior Alexander Michalenko rounded out the top-three Bison times with a final clocking of 31 minutes, 4.61 seconds.
  • The Bethany women were led by senior Michaela Ross (Wahiawa, Hawaii/Leilehua). Ross finished the six-kilometer race 55th overall with a final time of 27 minutes, 34.72 seconds.
  • Senior Elizabeth Timas (Middlefield, Ohio/Cardinal) recorded the second-fasted Bison time, finishing the race in 27 minutes, 34.72 seconds to take 61st overall.

MEET NOTES

  • The women's race featured 142 participants, while the men's race included 139 total runners.
  • Division II California (Pa.) was crowned the women's champion, while the men's trophy went to Division II Gannon.

UP NEXT

  • The Bison have made a schedule change and will now compete at the Penn State-Behrend Invitational in Erie, Pennsylvania on Friday, September 15.
  • Bethany will not compete at Waynesburg on Saturday, September 16 as previously scheduled.
