Baseball: Bison Split Series with Bearcats

Bethany, W.Va - The Bethany College baseball team hosted the Saint Vincent Bearcats for a double-header Sunday afternoon at Bethany Park. The double-header consisted of a nine inning PAC contest and seven inning non-conference match. The Bison and Bearcats split the four game series. The first two games took place in Latrobe, Pa. on Saturday.

Game One Overview

Game one was all the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The Bearcats opened up the first inning scoring three runs, and added a run in the third and three runs in the fifth. Bethany trailed 7-0 before plating two runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Kevin Pollock singled to right center scoring Mike Whiteherse. Ryan Anselmino singled to center field driving in Kyle Goodwin.

The Bearcats would score four in the seventh inning and three in the ninth to keep the Bison from catching up. The Bison scored one run in the eighth from a Tyler Alworth sacrifice fly and in the ninth Kyle Goodwin drove in Ethan Young.

Game Two Overview
Game two started where game one left off with the Saint Vincent Bearcats scoring two runs off the bat in the first inning. Over the course of four and half innings, the Bearcats led 8-0.

Bethany's bats began to come alive in the fifth inning. The Bison scored five runs to chip away at the Bearcats' lead. After a Bearcat error that led to the Bison's first run being scored, Kevin Pollock tripled, driving in two more runs for the Green and White. Ethan Young drove in Pollock moments later and a Kevin Roach double scored Luke Beatty.

In the sixth inning, Cory Newman drove in Reed Long and Ethan Young doubled to score Colton Stoneman. Bethany trailed 8-7 heading into the final inning. In the seventh it was Stoneman and Newman who drove in the game-tying and walk-off runs.
