Baseball: Bison Take Two from Barons

Steubenville, Ohio – The Bethany College baseball traveled across the river to face the Franciscan University Barons in a PAC doubleheader Saturday afternoon. The Bison swept the Barons on the day, winning 8-7 and 12-4.

Game One Overview

Bethany plated runs first in the second inning. Cory Newman doubled driving in Cameron Schaub. Michael Whiteherse tripled scoring Newman. Whiteherse scored moments later on an error. Ryan Anselmino doubled adding two more runs to the Bison lead. After the second inning, Bison led 5-0.

In the third inning, the Bison added two more runs. Newman singled scoring Logan Bennett. Then Whiteherse grounded out, allowing Nick Roell to score. The Barons battled to cut the deficit. Before the Bison added an insurance run in the seventh, the Bison held onto a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the Barons scored three, but the Bison escaped and held on for the win.
