Baseball: Bison Split with Titans

New Wilmington, Pa. – The Bethany College baseball faced the Westminster Titans in a doubleheader Sunday afternoon. The Bison took game one 14-4, while the Titans took game two, 6-5. Senior Kyle Goodwin registered his 100th career hit in a Bison uniform during game two. 

Game One Overview

Bethany 14, Westminster 4

The Bison plated a run first after Cameron Schaub singled to center field scoring Ryan Anselmino. The Titans battled back in the bottom half of the inning to take a 2-1 lead. In the second inning the Bison knotted the game at 2-2. Schaub drove in Kevin Pollock.

In the fifth, the Titans regained the lead, 3-2 and held the lead until the seventh inning. The Bison bats came alive in the seventh inning. Bethany scored nine runs on seven hits and one error.

The Titans would plate one run in the bottom half of the inning. In the eighth inning, the Bison added two insurance runs.

Game Two Overview

The Bison struck first in the second inning. Cameron Schuab singled to right field scoring Tyler Alworth. Moments later, Cory Newman reached on a Titan error, scoring Ethan Young. Bethany led 2-0 after the top of the second.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Titans cut the Bison lead in half. In the fourth inning, the Titans took a 3-2 lead. In the seventh inning, the Bison scored three to get the lead back from the Titans. Kevin Pollock doubled scoring Kyle Goodwin and Michael Whiteherse. Luke Beatty singled, scoring Kevin Pollock. Bethany led 5-3.

The Titans put pressure on the Bison in the seventh inning. They battled for the entire seventh inning. Eventually the Titans would get bases loaded. A hit batter would give the Titans the win.
