Baseball: Bison Take Two from Cougars

Pittsburgh, Pa.  - The Bethany College baseball adventured to Pittsburgh, Pa for a doubleheader against the Chatham Cougars. The Bison swept the Cougars on the day winning 9-3 and 6-1.  

Game One Overview

Game one began with the Bison trailing 2-0 after one inning of play. In the second, Bethany scored two runs to deadlock the game. Nick Roell tripled to right field scoring Dezmond Franklin. Cory Newman drove in Roell moments later. The game stayed deadlocked until the fourth inning, when the Bison scored on a wild pitch.

Chatham knotted the game at 3-3 in the bottom half of the fifth. In the seventh, the Bison battled to get a run across the plate. Michael Whiteherse singled to the third baseman scoring Cory Newman. In the top half of the eighth inning, the Bison scored four runs and added an insurance run in the ninth.

Game Two Overview
Chatham attacked first in game two scoring in the bottom of the first. The Cougars held the lead until the third inning when the Bison scored four runs to steal the lead back. Cory Newman scored on a balk. Moments later, Tyler Alworth had a bases clearing triple, scoring Kevin Pollock, Nick Roell, and Kyle Goodwin.  The Bison added insurance runs in the fifth inning scoring two to game two, 6-1.
