Drake Berlin Named PAC Men's Tennis Player of the Week

March 28 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – After leading the Bethany College men's tennis team to its best start since the 2007 season, Bison freshman Drake Berlin (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference Player of the Week, announced the PAC on Monday.

Berlin started his freshman season by posting a perfect 6-0 record in three matches last week. He competed exclusively at No. 1 doubles with partner Rhone Thrash (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg), as well as No. 2 singles. 

In doubles action, Berlin and Thrash won all three of their decisions, including an 8-2 win over Mount Aloysius' Matt Hample and Nick Goldyn. Then, after posting a hard fought 9-8 win against Marietta, the duo defeated Penn State – Altoona's Conner Saltzer and Carlos Cevalios by an 8-5 score. 

In singles play, Berlin was able to pick up two of his victories in straight sets, including a 7-5, 6-0 win over the Mounties' Nick Centar. He also posted a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Cevalios in the team's 8-1 win over PSU-Altoona. The freshman also showed earned a three-set win (7-5, 0-6, 6-3) against Marietta's Shane Spencer. 

Berlin and the Bison return to action with a pair of road matches this week. The Green & White take on Muskingum today, before traveling to Franciscan University on Wednesday, March 30. The match against the Barons is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
