Bethany drops match to Saint Vincent, 7-2

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 12) – The Bethany College men's tennis team was defeated 7-2 by Saint Vincent Wednesday afternoon in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match on the Ewing Tennis Courts.

The Bison fall to 3-5 overall, 2-2 in the PAC. Meanwhile, the Bearcats improve to 5-1 in league play, 8-4 this season.

Bethany fell behind 2-1 after doubles play, but secured a win in the top position. The sophomore duo of Rhone Thrash (Parkersburg, W.Va./Parkersburg South) and Drake Berlin (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) earned an 8-5 victory over Saint Vincent's team of Jonathan Prichard and Ryan Hartz.

The Bearcats went on to claim five of the six singles competitions to secure the win. Junior Chris Ray (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) was the lone winner for the Bison during singles play, earning a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set win over Scott Reichard.

Bethany is back on the Ewing Courts on Friday, March 14 when they host Washington & Jefferson for a PAC match at 4 p.m.
