Men's Tennis knocks off UPG 5-4

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 18) - The Bethany College men's tennis team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 5-4 in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday.

With the victory, Bethany sits at 5-6 overall, while UPG falls to 1-9.

The Bison started off the action by sweeping all three doubles matches. Chris Ray (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) and Drake Berlin (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) got the hot start winning 8-3. Rhone Thrash (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) and Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) won their match 8-4 with Jay O'Donnell (Cardiff, Wales/Radyr Comprehensive) and Callum Appleby (Maidstone, United Kingdom/Maidstone) following with an 8-6 win in third doubles.

After UPG took first singles, Thrash and Berlin took the next two matches. Thrash was victorious with wins of 6-3 and 6-1, while Berlin took third singles 6-1 in both sets, clinching the win before UPG took the final three singles matches.

Next up, Bethany hosts Grove City Thursday, April 20. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m
