Bison fall to Grove City 6-3

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 20) - The Bethany College men's tennis team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) match to Grove City 6-3 on Thursday afternoon.

Bethany falls to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in the conference, while Grove City improves to 9-7 on the year and stays undefeated in PAC play at 8-0.

The Bison got off to a hot start, taking first and second doubles. Chris Ray (Henrico, Va./Mills E. Godwin) and Drake Berlin (Washington Court House, Ohio/Washington) began play with an 8-2 victory. Rhone Thrash (Parkersburg, W. Va./Parkersburg South) and Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) went on to win their match 8-6.

In singles action, Ray took first singles in three sets. He dropped the first set 6-3 followed by taking the second 6-2. He capped it off by winning the tiebreaker match 10-8.

Grove City went on to win the next five singles matches to capture the conference win.

Next up, Bethany travels to Waynesburg on Saturday, April 22. the match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
