Women's Soccer: Bison Edge Yellow Jackets

BETHANY, W.Va.  – The Bethany College women's soccer program has reached nine wins for the first time since the 2009 season after defeating Waynesburg University, 4-2, Tuesday afternoon.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Yellow Jackets scored in the third minute of the match and doubled their score in the fifth minute to take an early 2-0 lead.
  • In the 21st minute, Jada Benjamin scored to cut the deficit in half.
  • The Bison trailed heading into halftime, 2-1.
  • Monica Bird scored on a penalty kick in the 56th minute to even the score.
  • In the 63rd minute, Monica Bird scored her second goal of the match to give the Bison a 3-2 lead.
  • The Bison tacked on one more goal when Shunnye Christopher scored off a penalty kick.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The team shots were almost even with Waynesburg having the slight advantage, 12-11.

  • Bethany's Corrine Grabow made five saves.
