Bison knocked off by Hanover

BETHANY, W.Va. (March 17) - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team was defeated 20-2 by Hanover in an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) game Saturday afternoon on a snowy day at Bison Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hanover took a 4-0 lead into the second quarter, before a man-up goal by freshman Tristan Shaffer (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) less than a minute into the second quarter brought the Bison back within three.
- Hanover would close the second quarter with command of the game. The Panthers scored seven-unanswered to take an 11-1 lead into halftime.
- Hanover picked up where it left off and built up a 14-1 advantage with 7:55 left in the third quarter.
- Bethany broke through with a goal on a nice individual effort by freshman Nicholas Melita (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) to make the score 14-2 with 5:21 remaining in the third quarter.
- Despite limiting Hanover to just three fourth quarter goals, the Bison were unable to draw any closer.
MATCH NOTES
- Bethany senior Sean Rhodes (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) made 14 saves on 34 shots on goal. Hanover held a 58-to-15 advantage in total shots.
- Hanover finished the game 4-of-11 on man-up opportunities, while Bethany was 1-of-5 with the man advantage.
