Bison knocked off by Chatham, 16-5

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 11) - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team was defeated by Chatham 16-5 in a Ohio River Athletic Conference (ORLC) game Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bethany scored the game's first goal one minute and two seconds into the first quarter when senior Bryan Uth (Hedgesville, W.Va./Hedgesville) beat the Cougars goalie.
- Chatham went on a run of 11-straight goals over the next 20 minutes of the game to establish an 11-1 lead heading into halftime.
- The Cougars scored the first goal of the second half to take a 12-1 lead, before the Bison got markers from freshman Tristan Shaffer (Fredericksburg, Va./Massaponax) and junior Will Gatling (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) to pull within nine at 12-3.
- Chatham responded with two goals to close out the period and take a 14-3 advantage into the final quarter.
- The two squads exchanged goals in the fourth quarter, including Bethany scores by Uth and junior Anthony Helias (Erie, Pa./McDowell), to allow Chatham to claim the win.
MATCH NOTES
- Bethany senior Sean Rhodes (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) made nine saves on 25 total shots in the loss. Chatham attempted 40 shots in the game.
- Uth finished with two goals to lead the Bison offense, while Shaffer had a goal and a assist.
- Chatham won 17 of 24 in the face-off department.
