Softball Wins Slug Fest Against Allegheny

Virginia Beach, Va. - The Bethany College softball team continued road play at Virginia Wesleyan, Saturday afternoon playing a pair of non-conference games. Bethany faced Virginia Wesleyan first to open up the day. The Bison fell 9-1 to the Marlins in five innings. In the second game of the day, Bethany faced Allegheny College. The Green and White picked up their first win on the season in a back and forth slug fest against the Gators, 15-14.

Bethany falls 9-1 to Va. Wesleyan (5 Innings)

Virginia Wesleyan scored seven runs in the second inning to take a commanding lead over Bethany. The Bison picked up two hits in the game. Lauren Maichle scored for the Green and White off of the bat of Tatum Barrass in the fourth inning. However, the Marlins would plate two more runs in the fifth to seal the win.

Bethany battled Allegheny for a 15-14 win

Allegheny took a 9-0 lead in the second inning. The Bison battled back to score four runs in the third and six runs in the fourth to take a 10-9 lead. In the fifth inning, the Gators took back the lead plating five runs to take a 14-10 lead. The Green and White continued to battle and scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to come within two runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Bethany added three runs to take a one run lead and held off the Gators to seal their first win of the season.

Gabreilla Capaldi had four runs batted in to lead the Bison. Jennifer Oberthur and Tyra Bell both added three runs batted in apiece. The Bison had fifteen hits and ten walks in the ballgame. The Green and White also swiped seven stolen bases.
