PAC names Daugherty Player of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Jan. 23) – Bethany College junior forward Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Daugherty recorded double-doubles against both Chatham and Waynesburg to help the Bison go 2-0 last week. She averaged 30.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 36.5 minutes per game and shot 59.5 percent (22-of-37) from the floor. 

She totaled 26 points and 12 boards in an 83-78 win over Chatham and followed that up with a career-high 34 points and 13 boards in a 76-69 win over Waynesburg.

Daugherty has now tallied 10 double-doubles this season and ranks second in both points (18.6) and rebounds (9.8) per game in the PAC.

This is the third time this season and fifth time in her career that the Newport, Ohio native has been named the PAC Player of the Week. She previously won the award on November 21 and January 9 of this season.

Daugherty and the Bison have won six of their last seven games and have already surpassed the team's win total from last season. The Waynesburg victory marked the first Bethany win against the Yellow Jackets since January 26, 2011 and moved the Bison into a tie for second place in the PAC standings.

Daugherty and the rest of the Bison return to the hardwood when they host Geneva on Wednesday, January 25 at 6 p.m.
