Meintel and Pollock Recognized at PAC Scholar-Athlete Banquet

WEXFORD, Pa. – The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) hosted its Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet Tuesday evening at The Chadwick in Wexford. Recently graduated Bethany College student-athletes Kelsie Meintel and Kevin Pollock were honored and joined by some of the most distinguished student-athletes from the 10 full-time PAC institutions and its two football affiliate members.

Established in 2014, the Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet honors the conference's student-athletes for their excellence in the classroom, athletic achievement and community service efforts.

Kelsie was a four-year member of Bethany's women's basketball and track and field programs. On the basketball court, she appeared in 81 games while making 48 starts. She had 571 career points and 469 rebounds with seven career double-doubles. In the field, Kelsie finished fifth in the discus and eighth in the shot put at the PAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships this spring.

In the classroom, she has been lauded as a member of the PAC Academic Honor Roll four times and was involved with the Psi Chi international psychology honor society, the Black Student Union and the Society of Distinguished Campus Leaders. She was also the public relations chair for the Psychology Club. Kelsie graduated May 7 with a bachelor's degree in psychology, a minor in criminal justice and was honored with the Oreon E. Scott Award, which recognizes the student who has the highest academic standing in the graduating class. She plans on attending Springfield College to earn her Master's in Sports Psychology.

Kevin was a four-year member of Bethany's baseball program. He appeared in 84 games with 273 career at-bats and posted a career average of .308 with 84 hits, 20 doubles, seven triples and one home run. He scored 54 times and had 51 RBIs. Kevin's seven triples rank fifth all-time at Bethany. He has been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll four times.

Of the baseball field, Kevin was involved in Beta Theta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Beta Beta Beta and was a Kalon Scholar. He graduated May 7 with a bachelor's degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. After graduation, Kevin plans on attending The Ohio State University College of Optometry.
