Storylines of the Week:

Football opener, Volleyball competes in the Pam Briggs Classic, Chillemi shines for Men's Soccer

Football opens with a 42-7 defeat against the W&J Presidents

The football season began with a ton of question marks, yet a lot of excitement. Nobody outside of the locker room really knew who the quarterback would be. Not only that, but the Bison would kick the season off with a game against the daunting Washington and Jefferson Presidents.

At the end of the 4th quarter, Bethany had lost the game 42-7, but there still remains a lot to be excited about. The starting quarterback, Kayrus Sam showed serious promise against a top PAC defense, throwing for nearly 200 yards and a completion percentage of 71%. Running back Charlie Mills ran for nearly 5 yards per carry in the game.

The Bison will travel to Thiel next week, looking to move to 1-1. Bethany took the game from Thiel in 2021 but dropped the game 26-27 last season. This game looks to be a good one for the Bison.

Women's Volleyball finishes the week 1-2 in the Pam Briggs Classic

The defending PAC champions traveled to Bexley, Ohio to compete in three games in the Pam Briggs Classic. They would take on Capital, Otterbein and Hanover before making the 3-hour drive back to Bethany.

In the first game, Bethany was led by the senior Riley Felton, who led the team with 16.5 points in the 3-0 win for the Bison. Alaina Torres led the Bison with 29 assists and Olivia Koehler led the team with 12 kills. From start to finish, the defending PAC champs showed they were the better team in the match.

The next day, Bethany took on Otterbein where they never got into a solid rhythm. Olivia Koehler would lead the Bison with 12 points, being the only one in double digits. The Bison would drop the game 3 sets to 0.

The final game of the weekend would be another defeat, this time 3-1 against Hanover. Three Bison, Riley Felton, Olivia Koehler and Destiny Goodnight would reach double digit points in this contest.

Pedro Chillemi adds 2 goals to top La Roche 4-2

Bethany College men's soccer added a win this week when they traveled to La Roche to take on the Red Hawks of La Roche College. Bethany took a 4-2 win, led by three different goal scorers. The Bison were led by senior Pedro Chillemi, who scored two goals in the contest.

This two-goal performance marked the best single game goal mark for the senior, who had five career goals leading up to this game. Before that game, Chillemi had a career high of one goal in a game, which he had done five different times. His season best goal mark is three, which he did two seasons ago. With 14 games remaining, Chillemi needs just two goals to beat his season best mark.
