Bethany College Athletics had another exciting week of sporting events. Fall sports are beginning to come around towards the end of their seasons while Winter sports are beginning to ramp up with their seasons beginning in the coming weeks. Let's take a look at how Bethany's athletic teams did this week.

Storylines of the Week:

BCVB improves their PAC win streak, Basketball season approaches

BCVB goes 3-0 on the week, moving their PAC win streak to six consecutive victories

The best athletic team on the Bethany College campus has continued to impress as the season has gone on. Not only is the Bethany Women's Volleyball team the best, most talented team on the campus this year, but it may be one of the more talented teams in Bethany's 21st century.

BCVB hasn't won over 20 games in a season since the 2018 season, half a decade ago. The 2023 team has already matched the 2022 PAC Champion team in wins (17) but they've played eight less games. This team could absolutely win 25 games this season, which has only been done six times in the 21st century.

BCVB had three games this week, winning them all in dominant fashion. Riley Felton and Emma Marthins led the way to a 3-1 victory over Geneva. A few days later, Asia Crim, Destiny Goodnight and Olivia Koehler anchored an impressive defense against Allegheny, leading to another 3-1 win. On Saturday, they earned a 3-0 sweep over Westminster. Nine different Bison recorded a kill while three different Bison recorded over 10 digs.

Also, this week, the team celebrated senior day, honoring their nine seniors. Sage Halbritter, Sydney Kirker, Lynn Burton, Emma Marthins, Olivia Koehler, Destiny Goodnight, Grace Tice, Asia Crim and Emma Kuivila make up this incredible senior class. In just over three seasons, this class has compiled a record of 56-34 while winning one PAC title.

Bethany's basketball teams begin ramping up for the year

Basketball season is quickly approaching for the Presidents Athletic Conference. We are just over two weeks away from tip-off for the 2023-2024 season and there's a ton to be excited about for this basketball season.

Beginning with the Women's Basketball team, Coach Lopez will see the return of Lindsey Garrison, who played only three games last season before suffering a season ending injury. Garrison was the team's best offensive player two years ago. The team also returns every player that averaged more than four points per game a season ago, including Makenzee Mason, Bella Skobel, Ashleigh Wheeler and Sophie Morey. Each of these women play a pivotal piece to this Bison offense. This team will be one to watch this year.

For the Men's Basketball team, they're led by an impressive sophomore class, anchored by the 6'7 forward Cole Dailey. Dailey set Bethany single season records in blocks (69) and blocks per game (2.8) in his freshman campaign. The East Liverpool product looks to build on that season to lead the Bison this year. Troy Hixson and Tony Fox will also look to improve from their impressive freshman seasons.
