Bruni, Mahaffey Selected for Leadership Forum

Two Bethany College student-athletes have been chosen to participate in the 2024 NCAA Leadership Forum.

Senior men's soccer player Santi Bruni and senior track & field student-athlete Alexis Mahaffey will take part in the three-day event in Charlotte, NC in late November.

"Santi Bruni and Alexis Mahaffey's selection for the 2024 NCAA Leadership Forum is a testament to their dedication to their personal growth as individuals and within our Bethany campus and athletic communities," said Bethany Senior Associate Director of Athletics Jen Windmiller. "This opportunity will enhance their leadership development while providing them invaluable insight and networking opportunities among all NCAA divisions in the region. We are incredibly proud of Santi and Alexis and look forward to seeing the impact of this experience as they continue to excel as Bethanians."

Mahaffey is coming off a junior season in which she set a pair of school records, establishing new marks in the discus and the hammer throw. A USTFCCCA All-Region selection, Mahaffey placed third in the Presidents Athletic Conference outdoor championships in the discus.

Bruni played in all 15 games with 14 starts as a defender.

The NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, created in 1997, has served as a life-changing experience for more than 5,000 student-athletes who have grown personally and professionally as a result of their attendance. Student-athletes selected to attend the forum return to campus with invaluable leadership skills, a refined understanding of the relationship among personal values, core beliefs and behavioral styles, and the support of a close personal network of like-minded peers to provide continued connection and dialogue after the program concludes. This best-in-class programming experience serves as a transformational opportunity for student-athletes and administrators to build a leadership toolkit and develop vital self-awareness that allows them to realize their potential.
