Football: Bison struggles continue in loss to Golden Tornadoes

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Bethany College football team dropped their seventh straight game this season falling the Geneva College, 45-20 late Saturday evening.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Despite Bethany forcing a fumble and recovering it on Geneva's first play, the Golden Tornadoes held all of the momentum after picking off the Bison on their first drive.
  • Geneva would score 21 unanswered points in the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Bison held the momentum, outscoring the Golden Tornadoes, 7-3. After driving down the field, Charlie Mills punched in a one-yard touchdown. The Bison held the Golden Tornadoes to a 23-yard field goal. Geneva took a 24-7 lead into the halftime break.
  • Geneva opened up the third quarter with a touchdown. Bethany responded with a 46-yard touchdown pass from Miles Goffe to Jacob Munoz. The Golden Tornadoes continued to respond to the Bison scoring, punching in a 14-yard touchdown to go ahead, 38-13.
  • The Golden Tornadoes added to their lead with a one yard rushing touchdown to open the fourth quarter.
  • Bethany added the final points of the night with a 4-yard rushing touchdown from De'Vaughn McWhorter.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • (199) – Bethany totaled 199 receiving yards while holding Geneva to 76.
  • (448) – Geneva had 448 yards rushing.
  • (273) – The Bison had 273 total yards of offense, while the Golden Tornadoes had 524.
