Drew VonScio, Student Assistant for Athletic Communications

WAYNESBURG, Pa - The Bison men's basketball team went on the road to take on Waynesburg in a PAC matchup. Freshman Troy Hixson won the game for the Green and White with a three-pointer with just four seconds left in the game as Bethany defeated Waynesburg 61-58.

It took the Bison just under three minutes into the first half to get themselves on the board as Hixson drained a layup. A short time later, Cole Dailey added a layup of his own to tie the game 4-4. Cody Davis came off the bench and put up a pair of his own as the Bison relied on the layup game early in the contest. Waynesburg went on a 9-2 run to pull ahead by seven. Chance Wells connected on a three that cut the deficit to four. A few minutes later, he added a layup to cut the Bethany lead to single-digits. The Green and White went on a scoring drought down the stretch of the first frame with the only contributions being a jumper from TJ Jenkins and a three-pointer from Chance Wright as the visitors went into the locker room 31-19.

Wright came out on top of his game in the second half as he put up the first five points with a jumper and a three of his own. Hixson posted two foul shots that saw the Bison get to within five and stayed hot with a three to take the deficit down to four. Bethany began to get hot as Wells and Hixson posted threes that tied the game 35-35. The Bison and Yellow Jackets entered a deadlock with trading points back-and-forth before the hosts went up by as many as eight with clock continuing to wind down. Bethany went on a 9-2 run as they clawed their way back once again, and Hixson's three-pointer. Jenkins hit on a triple that gave the Bison the lead 54-53. Waynesburg fought back and tied the game with just 19 seconds in regulation and were mentally prepared for overtime before Hixson called game just 15 seconds later with another three-pointer to send the Bison home victorious 61-58.

Hixson led Bethany with 19 points as he shot 5-8 from outside the arc, and Dailey posted another double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds. The Green and White stay on the road and head north to take on the Thiel Tomcats on Wednesday. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.
