Britton Launches PR in Top Five Finish

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Bison stayed in state for their first outdoor event of the season competing at the Marty Pushkin Invitational hosted by West Virginia University. Bethany had multiple top 10 finishers in both track and field events.


The 100 meter dash was the men's best event. They had two finalists- Caliyph McClinton and Tsi Fofang. McClinton was the runner up in the 100 finishing in 11 seconds flat. Fofang took sixth with an 11.3, showing that the Bison have competitive sprinting depth.

 

Hurdler Liam Gallagher just missed the finals in the 110 hurdles. He ran an 18.5 second race. Gallagher finished ninth among the field. 

 

Sophomore Jalen Britton had a standout throw in the discus. He had a personal best throw of 45.2 meters, nearly eclipsing that coveted 150 foot mark. Britton had the best throw out of all NCAA Division III competition, besting the second best throw by over 10 feet. 

 

Alexis Mahaffey finished top five in the hammer throw. The Presidents Athletic Conference champion marked 43.28 meters in the hammer throw. Mahaffey continued her excellence in the discus finishing eigth with a 32.09m toss.

 

Freshman Marissa French provided some friendly competition finishing ninth. French nearly tied Mahaffey, posting a 32.08m throw. The two Bison will look to continue pushing each other this season. 

 

Both teams will compete in the Tim Weaver Invite held at West Liberty University. It will be a two day event with day one beginning Friday.
