Gold Medal McClinton
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Bison crowned a President Athletics Conference Champion in the PAC Championships. Bethany had multiple podium finishes on top of their champion as they competed in West Virginia University's Mylan Park.
Caliyph McClinton is a 2025 Outdoor PAC Champion. The sprinter took home gold in the 200m Dash with a time of 21.48. McClinton was .01 second away from tying his season best. His time was still good enough to blow passed the competition, finishing a quarter second earlier than second place.
McClinton also added two silver medals to his arsenal. He took second in the 100m dash and anchored the 4x100 relay. McClinton took home three medals in total, leading the charge with 26 total team points scored for Bethany College.
The relay team consisted of Shavel Lesley, Tsi Fofang, and Daryes'e Fleming. They collectively ran a time of 41.74.
Fofang made his statement in the solo 100m dash. After qualifying as the seventh place finisher, Fofang busted out an 11.18 to slide into fourth place.
Liam Gallagher made the podium in the 110 hurdles. Gallagher kept stride to finish in 17.28, becoming the first Bison of the day to secure a position on the podium.
Sticking with track, the Bison had two female athletes slide onto the podium.
Madison Donelson outrun her seeding in a big way. The first year runner wasn't predicted to make the podium in the 100m or the 200m. Instead, the Bison placed fourth in both events.
In the 100m, Donelson ran a 12.85. In the 200m, she ran 26.75. Both of those times are personal bests on the year.
Shaelyn Anthony was the other podium finisher for the Bison. The freshman took 8th in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.82.
Both athletes teamed up with Shunnye Christopher and Cierra Toland to run the 4x100m relay. The quad ran a season best 51.69, placing sixth in the PAC.
While the Bison showed their success on the track, multiple athletes were reaching the podium on the field events.
Jalen Britton was the highest placing thrower of the day. He only marked one throw in the finals, but Britton made it count. He took fifth place throwing 40.89 meters.
Alexander Blair got the Bison on the board in the jumps category. He cleared a 1.76m high jump to finish eighth in the conference.
Alexis Mahaffey earned eighth place in the discus. However, due to lightning strikes in the area, the finals were not completed. The conference canceled the finals, meaning that her best throw of 32.91 meters reached the podium.
The Bison will compete at the Last Chance Invite at Spire. A few nationally ranked athletes will compete to try and cement themselves in the NCAA Championships the week after.
