
Bison Flourish in Winter Frenzy
CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Bison competed in Day one of a two-day event at California University of Pennsylvania. This competition is dubbed the Winter Frenzy- a quad meet consisting of three Division II institutions and Bethany College. The Bison had stiff competition in Salem University, Frostburg State, and Penn West- California University
The women's team saw Julie Ann Humpe post a personal best in the 400 yard IM with a time of 5:43.09. That time was a full 10 seconds off her previous best time in the event. She earned six team points for her effort.
The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay was another event where Bethany found enough success to score. The team consisting of Jordan Haslacker, Maya Metz, Aerial Knopsnider, and Humpe posted a 2:00.41, with both Haslacker and Humpe swimming their share in under 30 seconds. They scored four team points with their effort.
Metz scored in the 100 yard breaststroke. She finished with a 1:26.57.
Humpe improved on her 50 freestyle time compared to her relay. She finished the solo race in 28.77, good enough to qualify Bethany for a team point.
Haslacker placed second out of six competitors in the 100 yard free with a time of 1.06.48.
Knopsnider continues to impress in the 200 yard backstroke. She finished 6th in a field of DII competition, earning the team five points.
The men scored 17 total points split up between their three swimmers.
Paco Ramirez had Bethany's best finish of the day, placing fourth overall in the 200 yard backstroke. He had a time of 2:25.49.
Connor McDonald scored in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.92.
Isaiah Haverling finished seventh in the 50 free with a time of 28.17.
