Bison Host Hiram on Senior Day

JOHN J. KNIGHT NATATORIUM. – The Bethany Bison hosted the Hiram Terriers at Bethany College for their second home meet of the year. It was the Bison's senior day, honoring four Bison between the men's and women's teams.

 

Jordan Haslacker was the only senior representing the women. The men had three seniors: Isaiah Haverling, Francisco Ramirez Vazquez, and Connor McDonald

 

The women gave a good effort in their closest meet all year. They fell 84-70 to the Terriers.

 

In her final dual, Haslacker performed well. She took second in the 100 free, missing first by less than one tenth of a second with a time of 1:03.31. Haslacker had another narrow second place finish by two tenths of a second in the 200 free with a time of 2:19.84. 

 

The senior served as the lead in the 400 free relay. Maya Metz, Aeriale Knopsnider, and JuliaAnne Humpe gave their teammate a proper senior sendoff with a time of 4:36.09.

 

Two Bison beat out Terriers in head to head races.

 

Metz outpaced her competition by over 15 seconds in the 100 yard breaststroke. She swam a 1:26.19. Metz also took the crown in the 100 butterfly with a 1.18.63, putting up arguably the best performance of the day with two victories. 

 

Humpe won the 400 IM by over a minute, cruising in with 5:45.56. 

 

Jaymie Schaffer scored with a second place finish in the 50 free. She swam a 30.30.

 

The men's team had a tough task swimming against the undefeated Terriers.

 

McDonald had eight of the team's 13 points with a pair of second place finishes. 

 

The Bison will have some recovery time before showing up in the Presidents Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday, February 19th.
